Patrick Tamstrup
Patrick is a technical co-founder and software engineer with a strong entrepreneurial mindset. He holds an MSc in Software Engineering from Aalborg University and has spent most of his career operating at the intersection of technology, product, and business.
Rather than following a traditional employment path, Patrick started out as a self-employed developer and consultant, working across a wide range of industries—from hardware-backed self-service systems for marinas and campsites to large public-sector and enterprise environments. In 2018, he transitioned fully into startup life, co-founding Rightly ApS, which was later acquired by RightHub, Inc. Following the acquisition, Patrick went on to co-found Cobrite ApS, where he today plays the role of technical co-founder and lead developer.
Professionally, Patrick thrives in the space between hands-on software development and long-term strategic thinking. He combines pragmatic engineering with a willingness to challenge mainstream technology choices—when it makes sense. While curious about new and unconventional tools, he is equally aware of the risks of chasing novelty for its own sake, favoring proven foundations where stability and longevity matter. His experience spans the full startup journey, from early technical decisions to scaling and eventual exit, always with an eye on realistic economic and business implications.
As a collaborator, Patrick is thoughtful and deliberate in how he works with others. He values honesty and thoroughness, is attentive to dynamics and context, and believes strongly in building teams around individual strengths rather than forcing people into predefined roles. His awareness of how words and actions land allows him to pair a dry, sometimes controversial sense of humor with a level of precision that keeps it constructive rather than abrasive. As one former colleague put it: “You can get away with saying anything without insulting anyone.”
Outside of work, Patrick prioritizes a simple, low-stress life centered around family, freedom, and flexibility. He has a deep interest in Bitcoin—not just as technology, but for its broader economic and societal implications—and spends much of his time exploring questions at the intersection of technology, economics, physics, and metaphysics. For him, learning is not confined to software alone, but extends to understanding reality, consciousness, and the systems that shape how we live and work.
Patrick finds meaning in building software that removes friction, simplifies complexity, and genuinely saves people time. Success, to him, is when technology quietly does its job—and customers notice that their work has become easier.
